March 2016 Dressage Show - Write Up and Results

We had a lovely dry day, with even a bit of sunshine, for our first Spring Dressage show of 2016.  We were also at a new venue this year, the wonderful Freedom Farm, near Hertford. The setting and facilities were fantastic, so a big thank you to the Menhinick family for allowing us to hold the shows there and for making us feel so welcome.  Also a special thank you to Rose Menhinick for setting up the arena in advance and for organising parking on the day, all day!

Unfortunately we clashed with the Oaklands dressage show, so numbers were lower than usual, but at least this made for a relaxing day and early finish.  A special thank you to Alison Ray for providing trophies for a Best Turned Out category in each class.  This was a lovely surprise and gratefully received by those the judges picked out.  Thank you also to are wonderful scorers Karen Wakefield and Linda Hodges and all the judges, writers and helpers that made the show possible.

Well done to all those who took part and we look forward to seeing you at the next one.

Report Of The Children’s Halloween Themed Fun Show On 29th October

Home Farm is a first time venue for the Children’s Show & weather was supposed to be dry

as show parking was to be on a field. Unfortunately it rained persistly the week before the show which meant the field was too wet.

After moving cars around we managed to find spaces for some rather large lorries, trailers

parked down the side of grazing fields & anywhere there was a space!!

Once the parking was sorted the show started without any further problems.

Could not have run the show without my trusted band of helpers,:

Mrs Angela Cole –Secretary.

Linda Hodges & Karen Wakefield, judging  Show Jumping.

Linda Pateman- show parking.

Stewards – Kelly, Alice. Sally, Course designer Kirsty& anyone else l have forgotten

Special thanks to Jackie Bentley & Alison Ray for judging the showing classes & to

Mr Alan Fitzjohn for letting us hold the show at Home Farm.

X Barbara

Photo's from the Anniversary Show

Sunday August 9th - Anniversary Show!

What a fabulous day we had for our 40th Anniversary Showing & S J show at Warrenwood Manor Stud.

Thank you to Sharon & Clare Scott for organising the Showing Show & to Linda Pateman our  secretary on the day who was extremely busy taking entries for showing & sj.

I managed to watch the Concours D'elgance Pairs which is a new showing class & they looked amazing.

The S J up at the equestrian centre was slow starting but we soon had a steady steam of competitors who braved the heat, it seemed to be hotter up there than on the showing field which had some shade & a breeze.
Two riders parted company with their horses over the jumps but thankfully were not seriously hurt.

Special thankyou to Alison, Kellie, Rosie & Karen who built the S J course as Blair is in Warsaw.Mark for being the official steward on the day, picking up & putting up jumps during the day & to all my stewards, Rosie, Nicky, Leanne, Grace, Caitlin & her mum for ferrying me back & forward in her car from the SJ to the Showing field it was a long trek to walk in that heat.

Lastly to Karen & her friend for judging.

We had some lovely feed back from competitors about the show.

We could not of held the show without the use of Warrenwood Manor Stud so thankyou to Mrs Carolanne Brunt for letting us use the fantastic menage & show jumps up at the Equestrian centre & the field for the Showing Show.

2ND MAY DRESSAGE ROUND UP

Dressage at Home Farm on 17th May

The sun shone & the show went off without a hitch the scorers were pleased with their upgraded accommodation i.e. Claire’s horsebox which has benches & a table to sit at. Lots of good feedback about enclosed parking & how relaxed the show was.

Unfortunately everything changed on Tuesday after the show, two cases of EHV were confirmed at Bayford hall, one horse had contracted respiratory EHV while the other horse that had competed at the dressage, had contracted the neurological strain of the virus & sadly was put to sleep on Wednesday. Our heart felt sympathy goes out to the owner & riders of the horse it looked perfectly well at the dressage.

At the time of writing there have been no new cases of EHV & we have to thank Bayford Hall for containing the outbreak.

X Barbara

APRIL DRESSAGE ROUND UP

Just want to thank everyone who competed at the dressage at our new venue Home Farm.
Everyone l spoke too had nice things to say, parking in an enclosed field, warming up & main arena are close together so you didnt have to walk far & it was easy for me as it is where l keep my horse, so stress free.

Thank you to all the writers, stewards, callers & Nicki whose menage we used for the competion & Alan who owns the stables.

The 3rd dressage of the league is on 17th May at Home Farm, Bayford, look forward to seeing you there

Table Top Sale Summary - 7th March

We had 12 tables full of tack etc in Bayford Hall, we opened the doors to buyers around 11.15 & had a queue of people waiting to come in.

Refreshments went well & l was constantly serving tea/coffee & cake.

Thank you to everyone who had a table or came & supported it we had good feedback from sellers, we raised approx £50. Also, we raised £10 for Lucky Charms.

(Delayed) January Dressage - Finally Happened in February!

We finally made it. The dressage happened today despite all the odds against us.

Promises of snow, frost, black ice, sleet, hail rain and galeforce winds. We beat them all and at 6am this morning i opened the curtain and thought Hooray, no snow, no frost, no any of the above. So we ran.... Thankfully.

We had a few less riders than the original date. But that was fine as we managed to start and finish well within the times. We did have Galeforce winds across the Arena and a wild galloping horse piroueting alongside, but they were consistent throughout the day so all riders had to deal with the same problems. I think we now all have a very healthy glow about us.

Thankyou to the judges Louise Fonnereau and Helen Wesley. Thanks to Gary Dovell who braved the elements at the side of the arena and the caterers who kept people topped up with food.

Special Thankyou to Dawn for doing so much co ordinating between us and Bayford (Karen) never an easy task.

Also to Barbara, Ian, Linda and Karen and the writers, runners and rounder uppers. Thankyou.

Photos from today will be on Take2event website tonight.
